Marley Brown ‘12 is head chef of creative development and new projects at SingleThread. She grew up on a farm in southern Illinois where food and farming were always a part of life. She started working in restaurants when she was sixteen and she fell in love with the restaurant lifestyle. She graduated from the Culinary Institute of America Hyde Park in 2012. Marley started her career working for Sean Brock at McCrady’s in Charleston, South Carolina. She then moved to Maine to work for Melissa Kelly, a chef who has a five-acre farm and restaurant. There, Marley cemented her passion for cooking and farming together. Marley has been with SingleThread since 2017 and became chef de cuisine in 2020. Under her direction SingleThread has maintained its Three Michelin Stars, Green Star, Forbes Five Stars, La Liste #1 Restaurant in North America/World, and Ranking on the Worlds 50 Best Restaurants annual list.
