Mutsuko Soma

Mutsuko Soma is the chef and owner of Miyabi 45th, the acclaimed soba restaurant, Kamonegi, and sake-focused Hannyatou. Mutsuko grew up in Japan watching her grandmother make noodles from homegrown buckwheat and rice, inspiring a lifelong passion for soba. After studying culinary arts at the Art Institute of Seattle and cooking at acclaimed restaurants including Harvest Vine and Chez Shea, she returned to Japan in 2009 to study soba-making, from its history to traditional milling techniques.
Back in Seattle, Soma opened her acclaimed restaurants, showcasing a deep commitment to Japanese culinary tradition and craftsmanship. Soma is a certified Sake Sommelier and Shochu Advisor, and holds WSET Level III certification. (Instagram: @kamonegiseattle @somamutsuko)
