James Kim

Secretary, YS Kim Foundation (New York, NY)

James Kim is the secretary of the YS Kim Foundation and a board member of MOMA PS1 in NYC. His work has largely existed at the intersection of art, education, and community. He founded BEAT (Bridging Education and Art Together), a nonprofit that explored how artistic expression through Hip Hop - breakin', music production and beatboxing, could create new opportunities for learning, communication, and creative development.

James is particularly interested in expanding opportunities for Korean and Korean Americans, strengthening cultural representation, and connecting younger generations to their heritage. He is currently pursuing a master's degree in Art Education at Columbia University's Teachers College, continuing to explore how creativity can inform the ways we teach, learn, and engage with one another.
